Rock Lights
Parts List:
1) 3 pairs of lights (I have used only three lights so far)
2) 30 ft. of wire
3) Various solderless connectors
4) Set of drill bits
5) Electric drill
6) Socket set with rachet  and a couple wrenches
7) 30 amp relay
8) small piece of rubber tubing (see pictures)
9) utility knife or dremel tool
10) electrical pliers for connectors
11) spiral wrap
I started off by mounting the lights. The ones facing forward (one on each side) are mounted on top of the middle body
mounts on each side. The front mount didn't allow the light to spread very well, but with the lights on this mount may
make them vulnerable to rocks thrown up by the front tires. We'll see how it goes and if I start breaking them I will
relocate them in another spot.
This is a view of the rear light. It is mounted on the upper control mount on the drivers side. One hole is already there and
I drilled the second hole. I also added the rubber tubing just incase the mount vibrated. I didn't want it to damage the
brake line underneath it. There is a good gap between the two, but it the added protection helps me sleep at night if
nothing else..
More on Rock Lights
This summer 4x4 and more of Texas is planning a night run, so I decided to go ahead and
install some rock lights over the Christmas break. The lights I used are straight from the local
Walmart. They cost about 15$ a pair and come with the switches and wiring you need. I ran
to the parts store and bought a 30 amp accessory relay. If the guy at the counter doesn't
know what one is, tell him you want a Horn relay for a Ford pickup. I also picked up about
30 ft of wire. The wire that comes in the kit is made for mounting the two lights on the front
bumper so there wasn't enough wire in the kit. I also needed extra wire for the relay.
