Switch install
To remove the lid from the consol, there are only 2 screws on the hinge and out it came. To
disassemble the lid remove the 5 philip head screws and the one torx screw on the latching
mechanism.
Next I made a cardboard template to mimic the opening in the actual console. Then I mapped
out the ribs that are in the upper part of the lid and the screw holes to try to avoid them if I
could. After testing the fit I had to notch out most of the center ribs to allow the wires to pass
through.
I measured then remeasured three or four times and then cut out the cardboard template to make
sure it would fit. Then I cut the lid out. I did it the hard way with a handsaw. If you have a dremel
tool it will make this step go so much faster. Make sure you gut the hole small and then enlarge it as
needed.
Here is the finished product. I wired all three lights into one switch, but went ahead and wired all 3
switches for future accessories. I tired to mount the wire going through the hinge. You can barely see
the holes in the middle of the hinge. The wire kept binding and the metal hinge was cutting into the
insulation. The end solution was to wrap the wires in spiral wrap and let the cord come out high enough
on the lid that it would push the wire straight into the opening in the console. I then ran the wires
through the firewall in the large rubber plug above the brake pedal.
I am real happy with the choice of location for the switches. The console can be locked so no one can
operate your accesories when your not around. I wired these lights straight to the battery so it would
be  possible for someone to run my battery down when I'm not around. With the swithces locked up I
don't have anything to worry about. If I get a winch I will use one of the swithces as a maser switch to
power the winch, so some vandal won't latch my winch down to something important and tug away. If
you have an accessory like air lockers I don't think I would mount the switches here. This location
could be a little awkward for accessories that you use often like air lockers. Send me an e-mail if you
have any questions. bryce@dtnspeed.net

I won't go too much into the wiring. The instructions that came with the kit are good and if you
want instructions for wiring the relay, Stu Olson did a great write-up at his
website. Also check
out the wiring diagrams for the relay at this
link. Another nice website is Joe West's webpgage.
Once you read those two guys write-ups you will be set. The part I did different from their's is
were I mounted the switches. I haven't ever seen switches mounted in the consol lid so I thought
I would do a write-up to help answer any questions.
